Lets Breed Some Dragons…Wait, What? -- Dragon Story Review
You heard me right! Lets breed some dragons! Continuing with my reviews on the number one iOS & Android social game developer, Storm 8, my next review is going to uncover the secrets of Dragon Story. The app was last updated on August 8, 2013 and takes up 49.6MB on your smartphone. The app store provides reviews of their own for these games but often times I do not agree with the ratings. In this case they hit the bulls eye, or dragons eye with this one. Obtaining 4.5 stars, Dragon Story is one of the hottest games out there. Strategy, adventure, collecting, and building/creating are just a few of the many aspects this game has to offer. Time for the quest…
Are you a fire breather or a whimsical fairy kind of person? One of the greatest features of this game is that there is an incredibly long list of dragons to choose from to be a part of your story. To start the game you are able to get the basic dragons: Fire, Forest, Air, and Water. Later on in the game is when it really gets fun and you can start hatching Magic, Social, Rainbow, Emerald, Ruby, Landworm, Wizard, etc. and of course the all famous Storm dragons. You are then prompted to buy a nest and breeding post. These will be the two most essential purchases in your game. To get more dragons you must breed different combinations of dragons and then breed the ones you create. The next step for your dragons is to feed them in order for them to evolve. To evolve you build an Evolution post and after your dragon gets to a certain level you can send him there to grow. The bigger your dragon is, the more money it makes for your story.
Onward!! Lets talk about the positives and negatives of the game. The first thing you have to know is that it requires internet access to use, so if you do not have a good data plan then you might want to wait until you have wireless access. First for the negatives: Just like every other Storm 8 app you will be hit with advertisements for their other games every time you turn on the app to play, after that you are good to go, but it can get a little annoying sometimes. Second, it can take forever for your egg to hatch or for your dragons to breed. I have not figured out what makes different combinations take longer than others but some will have you stuck for hours waiting. Lastly, things start to cost more and more as you advance through the levels. This is a common trend when it comes to apps with stages but it can cost as much as 150,000 coins just to cut down a tree and clear your land. These may sound like game changing negatives but they are really small in the grand scheme of things.
Now onto the positives…I could go on and on about how much I love this game, but I will narrow it down to my favorite elements. Like I said earlier, one of the best parts about the game is that there are so many different dragon combinations to create. I am always waiting in anticipation for them to finish breeding. (For all of the parents out there, there is no explicit “breeding” between the dragons. They just walk around each other) also, the creativity in this game is unbelievable. I can craft dragons by collecting items, trade dragons, send them on quests, send and receive gifts from neighbors, and reach goals to gain experience.
Overall I rate this game at the top of its class. I am a super fan of Storm 8 and the different games they offer, but among them all Dragon Story is my favorite. I am constantly checking my phone to see how much money my dragons made or if my dragon has hatched. Do me a favor and take the quest! Leave me a comment and let me know what YOU think of the app!
