The Legend of Zelda was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It is one of the longest running and most successful of Nintendo's franchises. This game has sold over 6 million copies and has been re-released on many systems over the years. It is considered to be influential to many other games that came after it and also introduced many gaming concepts that have been used over the years. It was also one of the first Nintendo console games to feature a battery powered backup saving system (most games before this simply had no ability to save your progress in the game or relied upon a password system). It also was released in a shiny gold colored cartridge, with some boxes having a section missing to show off the gold coloring.
