Watch Dogs Gets a New Trailer... And Finally A Release Date
Watch Dogs

Ubisoft's tech-themed openworlder Watch Dogs was one of the most eagerly anticipated releases of 2013. Until, that was a last minute delay was announced and it became one of the most eagerly anticipated games of 2014 instead. In the months since we've only been left with a vague "spring" release window and speculation had been circulating bad news was coming when somebody reportedly attempted to cancel the Watch_Dogs trademark. That turned out to be false (or possibly some clever viral marketing) although it was announced that the Wii U version would be further delayed, launching some months after other versions. Now, at last, thanks to the new trailer we have a firm release date for those other versions- May 27th 2014.

The new trailer focuses on the games story for the first time. We learn why it is main character Aiden Pearce becomes a master hacker- and it's all a case of good old fashioned revenge. After his wife is murdered, he's given a smartphone which "can turn a city into a weapon". The video seems to feature the game's cinematics, and suggests that despite the game's sheer openness being part of it's appeal, that a solid story surrounds it all too.

Originally Watch Dogs was due to launch alongside the PS4, and a console bundle was offered. It has now been confirmed that the bundle will released alongside the game as planned. Not only that, but for the more budget concious a Watch Dogs PS3 bundle will be released at the same time. Both Playstation versions of the game will come with 60 minutes of exclusive gameplay unavailable on other formats.

Watch Dogs will be available for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on May 27th 2014. The Wii U release date is to be confirmed.
