5 Games to Look Forward to in October
With October comes the release of a few of the year's most highly anticipated games, as well as a few less anticipated but equally awesome ones. Straight into it, like a barb into Steve Irwin, here are the top 5 games to look forward to in October.
5: Batman: Arkham Origins- October 29
The best superhero ever is back in the third instalment of the Batman: Arkham series. It will have similar gameplay to its predecessors, with streamlined combat and new nifty gadgets. Arkham Origins will be the first to include a multiplayer option and will feature "I Am the Night Mode, a very difficult setting for those who have completed the regular game. It will be available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U & PC, with a Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate version available for the 3DS and PSVita.
4: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD- October 4
The high definition remake of 2003's classic Wind Waker will be released for Wii U. The improved art features a revamped version of the game's unique animation with improved light and textures. Most major details of the game remain untouched, allowing players to revel in the nostalgia of one of the best releases in the Zelda series, aside from Link to the Past, of course.
3: Pokémon X and Y- October 12
Pokémon X and Y, for the 3DS, will be the first in the series to feature 3D graphics and gameplay. The classic battle system was overhauled in favor of more stimulating animation- Pokémon will now have more lively reactions during battle. Players can now move diagonally and connect with others through the internet to trade or battle. Flying type Pokémon can now battle in the sky, and Fairy type Pokémon have been added to balance the powerful Dragon type. Other new features include mega evolution and avatar customization as well as the addition of 40 new Pokémon.
2: Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag- October 29
Pirates, f**k yeah. The sixth Assassin's Creed game will be set in the colonial era, when privateers stalked the shipping lanes of European settlers. The game will have a more open feel, allowing players to explore the world with seamless movement. In Black Flag, players will become Captain of an upgradable ship, and will be able to see nearby vessels and their cargo with the spyglass. Underwater gameplay has been introduced, while multiplayer will return for land-based game modes. Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will be available for PlayStation 3, Wii U, and Xbox 360, with a PC version available a few weeks later. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are also in development.
1: Battlefield 4- October 29
With the release of these top two on the same date, I may not leave the house for a couple of days. Ten multiplayer maps will be available for seven game modes, with some maps holding up to 64 players. Battlefield 4 features three playable factions- US, China, or Russia. Two new game modes, Obliteration and Defuse, will be added to the regular Domination, Rush, and Team Deathmatch maps. The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
