Assassin’s Creed Sequels Need To End

Assassin's Creed Sequels Need To End
Assassin's Creed

When I brought home my baby Xbox 360 from the store I imagined great things for her.  I saw a bright future filled with dragon slaying, bomb dropping, sky diving adventures.  She had a life ahead of her all other consoles would envy.

The very first game I had waiting for her was Assassin's Creed.  I remember seeing commercials about this game.  I remember thinking to myself, “One day, one day I will roam through the crowded streets of Jerusalem and slay a Templar.  It is my destiny.”

When that day finally came I was the greatest assassin the world has ever known.  I didn’t “complete missions” I was on a mission.  The way I moved in this game it was like an extension of my soul.  This game was the most beautiful gaming experiences my eyes have ever had the honor of exploring.  This is the type of game that makes you appreciate art.

So it pains me to say, but they need to stop making sequels to Assassin's Creed.

And here’s why… do you remember the first time you had an In N’ Out burger?  I mean the very first time.  You probably were in high school hanging with your friends and you ended up on the far end of town and boom!  You had your first burger.

It meant something.  The first time always does.

Now let’s flash forward to today.  It’s just a burger.  They keep making it again and again and again but in the end it’s the same ingredients.  Yeah, they may wrap it a little differently and may give some kinky name, but we both know it’s just a burger!

Assassin's Creed is one of the best burgers I’ve ever had.  Why the gaming community feels its right to exploit my visceral taste buds is beyond me.

Now you’re probably thinking the next game will be better.  They’ll solved all the glitches.  This is where I must pump the breaks.  Click here look at how many versions of this game they've made.   Not to mention the movie they're making.   When will the horror end.  Those glitches, those burned sides are what made the game so freaking fun!

Look at the franchise as a whole.  They’re running out of story lines.  In no time, they’ll just release the first game again with extended features.  And what is that?  Is that like a veggie burger?  What do I do with that?

Or taking the analogy you yourself have made it could be like eating a Big Mac at MacDonald’s or a freshly foot long sandwich from Subway. Why do people keep going back? Why do sequels to games continue to be made? There is a continuous market for such things. As for Assassin’s Creed I think enough has changed in Black Flag that it will once again be a hit.

We make sequels because of the market. There’s an established fan base who can’t say no to a juicy Big Mac. And why would we want too? It’s a safe, proven bet. Think of all the new games stuck in limbo land because sequels have priority.
