UK Charts: The Last of Us, Animal Crossing Make Strong Debuts

Naughty Dog's eagerly anticipated The Last Of Us was finally released across the world last week, and is shaping up to be not only the best reviewed game of the year, but one of the best reviewed of this entire generation. Not bad considering it's running on hardware that's nearly seven years old, and the next gen is just around the corner. More importantly than what the critics say however, is what the great gaming public say- and they've voted with their wallets. The Last Of Us has stormed straight to number one in UKIE's all format top 20, and is currently the third fastest selling game of the year behind Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite. This makes it both the fastest selling new IP of the year and the fastest selling single-format game of 2013.

Also making a strong debut is Nintendo's Animal Crossing, which is the biggest ever non-Mario 3DS launch. People sure love them some Animal Crossing it seems! Tomb Raider has made a strong return to this top twenty, after being reduced to £20 at a certain well know online retailer (who doesn't pay their taxes).

I used to write this weekly round-up for the now defunct Rant Gaming up until January, and when I did so the UK chart was dominated by FIFA 13 more often than not. It's therefore pretty notable that for my first installment of this feature for Rebel (some six months later) that FIFA 13 is still in the top five. And there it will probably remain until FIFA 14 comes out later this year. The Full chart follows.

Hello there! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this
site? I’m getting tired of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m
looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be awesome
if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
